Sharing the Experience of the African American in Africa
We chronicle the narrative of modern day African Americans living on the African continent. Their voices, footprints and experiences take us on the long awaited journeys back home, picking up where our ancestors left off, and shedding encouragement for those daring to break the conventional.
Here the experience of the African American in Africa is told.
These are our stories.
About Editor-in-Chief, Kaylan Reid Shipanga
An 80’s baby born in New York, New York, and a Howard University journalism graduate, Kaylan has been continually drawn to a life abroad. She’s lived in Barbados, the nation of her matrilineal lineage; then, life brought her to the nation of Namibia. Chronicling her experiences abroad on her Youtube channel Afro American in Africa, led Kaylan to create this platform to share the stories of other people of African descent who live, have lived or desire to live on the mother continent.
